A driver's license is so important to many teenagers in care. For the first time in many of their lives, it offers freedom and independence. Recently our CCYP department helped two youths achieve that independence.

After taking driving lessons and studying, K.A. passed his driver’s test and obtained his driver’s license. This was one of his biggest goals since he left state custody! The CCYP specialist got him to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and DOR offices and taught him about the process of getting a driver's license.

Another youth, C.L., had three study sessions with the CCYP specialist that led to passing the permit test! C.L. was very nervous as the specialist drove them to the MSHP testing center. But with encouragement and determination, C.L. passed the test and is looking forward to driving lessons to prepare to get a driver’s license!

Stomp Out Abuse was a smashing success!

We had our first-ever Boone County fundraiser, Stomp Out Abuse, at Cooper's Ridge Event Venue. We had line dancing, a country-style buffet, a giant Plinko board, a silent auction, cornhole, and plenty of touching moments. We raised more than $10,000 for children in need! Thank you to all those who came out and supported the event.

Paving the road to success!

Only 50% of youth in foster care actually graduate high school. Recently we celebrated with a group of individuals at Edgewater Estates who were able to mark that accomplishment. We played games and had pizza and crafts where the teens could sign each other's shirts. We also surprised every attendee with a new laptop, so they can be better prepared for whatever future they walk into.

Upcoming events

June 8 — Backyard BBQ Bash (formerly the Luau)

June 12-14 — K.I.N. Conference

July 24-26 — R.E.A.L. Foster Care Conference

Children in care often need someone to be a hero. To take them in and show love and compassion they otherwise may not have had. To those who step up to foster and adopt, we do everything we can to support you. It takes a community of heroes just like you to be able to provide that support. Please consider, joining our monthly giving program and being a hero for these children so often overlooked. Thank you and we look forward to the wonderful year we will have in 2023!
